Optimization of the website for search engines

To promote your site, you first need to optimize it – make it attractive for search engines and users. If you adhere to some rules of site optimization, it will help your project to become popular and visited.

Determining the subject of the site

Immediately determine why and why you need a website. Choose the area in which you are most knowledgeable. Do not create a site of uncertain subjects. Some resources contain sections devoted to completely different topics, and this leads to a “blurring” of the general theme of the site and a decrease in PR. Remember: It is much easier to promote a site where it is told, for example, only about the optimization of sites than the one where it is said about optimization, earnings, games, etc.

Content of the site (content)

First of all, replenish the site with unique content (do not reprint materials from other sites). In the course of the development of the site you will have to do this regularly. Avoiding the repetition of existing materials, fill the site with really high-quality content, worthy of its quoting by other sites. This is highly appreciated by search engines and users.

Optimization of the structure of the site

If you have a large website, break it into thematic sections, sections on rubrics, etc. A structure will be obtained in the form of a pyramid, where the main page will have more weight. If the site is small, it’s better to use a grid, where all the pages are linked by links. Some use a grid and a pyramid at once.

Optimizing URLs

The names of pages and sections of the site are better to create using keywords, suitable for these pages in transliteration. Also, the search engines take into account the presence of the request in the domain URL.

Text Optimization

Position the text content as high as possible on the page. Optimize the site so that the search engine that searches for your content does not need to wade through a bunch of banners, tables, scripts, etc.

Do not put too much text or too little, search engines like pages of medium size. Break the text into paragraphs to make it easier for visitors to read. Most users simply quickly scroll through the page, scrolling through the paragraphs. Also, do not forget about the keywords – they must occur at the beginning of the text (necessarily), in the middle and at the end . Their density should be about 3-5%.

Optimize the page for one or two words or phrases. In the title, be sure to use keywords. A few key words or phrases that occur in the text, especially in the beginning, highlight bold, italic.

Add the alt tag containing the keywords to the pictures. Use the description in the links, this will be useful for users and search engines, you can also add keywords to it.

Optimize links

Set the links in such a way that the user is comfortable navigating through your site. Pages link one topic to each other. An important role in the search engine optimization of the site is played by “anchor text” (text content of the link). In the text of the links do not write “click here” or “here”, and insert keywords and combinations that correspond to the pages to which these links lead. More search engines like links that are right in the text of the page.

Optimize the site so that the search engine is able from the main page, following the links, freely index the rest of the site. If you have a large resource, create a site map, where you can place links to all pages. You can prohibit unnecessary pages and directories in the robots.txt file.

Meta Tags

When optimizing a site for search engines, basically, three meta tags are used: title, description, keywords. The most important is the title. This tag should be compiled so that it includes the keywords (required) and was attractive to the visitor, as this text is visible in the search engine. Also check that the title of your page looks fine in the browser, in the list of bookmarks.

The second most important, from meta tags, is the description. Briefly describe what this page is about using keywords. And the more tempting this description will be, the more chances that the user will go to your site. Search engines once attached special importance to the tag “keywords”, but now it is almost not taken into account. Do not forget to add some of your keywords and combinations to it.
